The Quintessential Louis Comfort Tiffany

Registration Information
October 3, 2017 | 9:30am - 5:00pm
New York City

This program will provide an intensive investigation into the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany, including discussions with three leading Tiffany experts. Participants will study some of Tiffany’s finest examples, including his iconic lamps.

First, Julie Sloan, AAA, stained glass expert and appraiser, will discuss Tiffany stained glass windows at St. Michael’s Church. Ms. Sloan will compare and contrast Tiffany Studios to other windows on view.

Next, Martin Eidelberg, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Rutgers University, will discuss his investigations into Tiffany production for the New York Historical Society. They have revealed the lost importance of women designers such as Clara Driscoll, who designed the well-known Tiffany dragonfly shade and others. The newly renovated galleries present a fantastic display of some of Tiffany’s finest lamps.

Finally, Arlie Sulka, owner and long-time managing director of Lillian Nassau gallery, will focus on works in the gallery, including lamps, as well as Tiffany’s enamels and pottery. Ms. Sulka will discuss interest in Tiffany’s work by those who first became interested in collecting and preserving Tiffany, from the time of the closing of Tiffany Studios in the 1930’s to today.
