Join Sharon Chrust, AAA and Susan Hunter, AAA as they discuss how to manage the appraisal of a large collection (100-1,000 works). Susan Hunter, AAA will first discuss the general estate appraisal; tackling the on-site process, determining how to group items, and how to structure your research according to type of item and value.

Sharon Chrust, AAA will then discuss appraising a large fine art collection, including how to approach collections with a collection management system and how to best work with galleries to research valuations.

During this presentation, the following will be addressed:

  • The reporting requirements for a large collection
  • Information that an appraiser should organize before starting the project
  • Grouping items together
  • What you must see in person vs. what you can use digital images for
  • Developing a system for when you first arrive on-site
  • How to organize your team

Please note that the following will not be addressed in this presentation; blockage discount, sampling and mass appraisals.
