Appraising Indian Miniature Paintings: Authenticity / Aesthetics / Rarity
This session was originally held at our National conference, November 6, 2024.
The discussion will provide an overview of Indian Miniature paintings, works of art on paper created principally for India’s royal patrons from the Sixteenth to the Nineteenth Centuries. Speaker Mitche Kunzman AAA will provide personal anecdotes from his own experience in the field and discuss some methods for determining the market value of the works - considering aesthetics, rarity and comparables from similar regional schools and dating - given the paintings were typically unsigned and the artists are often unknown.
Speaker: Mitche Kunzman, AAA, Director, Mitche Kunzman Curatorial and Museum Services
