Daphne Lingon began her jewelry career at Christie’s East in 1993 and in 2017, Ms. Lingon was named head of the jewelry department at Christie’s Americas.
Ms. Lingon’s sale highlights include jewelry belonging to Ellen Barkin, the Blair Family Collection, Doris Duke, Noreen Stonor Drexel, Margaret Adderley Kelly, Peggy and David Rockefeller, Ann Getty, Anne Eisenhower and the Rothschild Family, amongst others. In 2011, she was instrumental in the sale of jewelry from The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, which sold for a world-record price of $144.1m, the highest total ever achieved for a single owner collection of jewelry. In December 2019, Ms. Lingon assisted the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts with the sale of two significant pieces to benefit future acquisitions. Formerly from the collection of Mrs. Jessie Ball Dupont, the “Dupont Emerald” sold for $1.64 million and “Dupont Ruby” realized $8.96 million.
Widely interviewed about the international jewelry market, Ms. Lingon has appeared in numerous publications such as Elle Décor, W Magazine, The Financial Times, Town & Country and The New York Times, as well as on national and regional television programs including CBS Sunday Morning and panel discussions hosted by Stellene Volandes, Editor-in-Chief of Town & Country, for The 92nd Street Y. She is a frequent lecturer and has appeared at the Bruce Museum, Carnegie Museum of Art, The Georgia Historical Society, GIA Alumni Association, Museum of the City of New York, New York School of Interior Design and Winterthur.
In 2023, Ms. Lingon left Christie’s after 30 years and moved to the Charleston, SC area with her husband. She established her own jewelry appraisal and advisory firm, Daphne Lingon LLC.
A native of Ann Arbor, MI, Ms. Lingon graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Denison University with a B.A. in History and Asian Studies and earned a Graduate Gemology (G.G.) certificate from the Gemological Institute of America.
