Appraiser's Statement
I am a fine art appraiser and administrator with over ten years of appraisal, curatorial, and sales experience in Aboriginal Australian art.
I appraise all mediums of Indigenous Australian art including paintings on canvas, bark, paper, drawings, sculpture, textiles, fibre work, prints, photography and ceramics of all regions, 20thC to contemporary.
My knowledge of each class of property comes from over a decade's worth of experience in the Australian gallery sector where I performed regular valuations under the tutelage of senior appraisers and specialists.
Since 2012, I have been working as an independent appraiser and consultant specializing in Indigenous Australian art. These experiences combined have allowed me to view, handle, research, and value a vast array of property that requires highly specialized knowledge of Australian Indigenous visual and material culture, art history, theory, and the current state of the market in the USA, Australia, and internationally.
I have valued Australian Indigenous art for private, corporate, and public collections including The Kelton Collection, Santa Monica; The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA; Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, WA; Artbank, Sydney, NSW; The Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, New Haven, CT; Sydney Living Museums, Sydney, NSW; The San Antonio Museum of Art, San Antonio, TX; and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY.
I have a combined Bachelor of Art History/Theory and Professional French, the University of New South Wales and a Master of Arts Administration, College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales, and am a Registered Valuer for the Australian Cultural Gifts Program and Member of the Australian Art Consultants Association.
