Appraiser's Statement

Josephine is an Accredited Member of the Appraisers Association of America, specializing in Post War, Contemporary, and Emerging Fine Art. She is based in Houston, TX.

Born in San Antonio, TX, Josephine earned a BA in Art History from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN and an MA in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York. She also completed her Certificate of Appraisal Studies at NYU School of Professional Studies and her Certificate of Interior Design from New York School of Interior Design.

During her time in New York, Josephine worked in several positions at Livet Reichard Company, an event planning and arts management company for non-profits and benefit auctions. She produced benefit auctions for the National Academy, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, BOMB Magazine, and the International Print Center of New York. Before joining MKG, Josephine managed several private collections of fine and decorative arts in Houston.

Over the past 7 years at MKG Art Management, Josephine has provided significant assistance including cataloguing, report writing, market research, and valuation methodology on appraisal projects for major private collections consisting of works of art from 17th century to Contemporary/Emerging art. She continues to perform appraisal projects for many private art collections in Houston, Austin, Santa Fe, Louisville, Los Angeles, and New York City, and has worked on large scale appraisal projects including the Houston Airport System. Additionally, she has contributed to many non-cash charitable donation appraisals of fine art that have been submitted to the following institutions: Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Menil Collection, Houston; The University of Houston, Texas; Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis, TN; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA; Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA; Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, NY; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY.
