Appraiser's Statement

My passion for art began in the late 1970s when my father restored the sculptures at the Hirshhorn estate prior to the collection being delivered to the Smithsonian Institution's new art museum, The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, on the mall in Washington, D.C. My numerous visits to the Hirshhorn home, and the subsequent study of this immense collection that includes important examples of virtually every major painter from 1870-1970 (including John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Albert Bierstadt, Pablo Picasso, William De Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Edward Hopper and Jasper Johns) that led to my diverse interest in art. I have been servicing the art world in many capacities since 1980 and began appraising artwork in the early 1990s, becoming a member of the Appraisers Association of America in 1999. I am an active dealer of art through my New York, NY, Greenwich, CT, Palm Beach, FL and Nantucket, MA galleries, where we exhibit and sell a wide range of artwork from late 19th and early 20th century works, to contemporary paintings, sculpture and photography.

Through Cavalier Galleries, I have organized a number of notable exhibitions, including:
