With more than thirty years’ experience working in the art world, Debra Singer, AAA, is an independent art advisor and a Certified member of the Appraisers Association of America as well as an internationally recognized, contemporary art curator. Singer is the principal of Debra Singer Art Advisory LLC, a , a full service fine art consulting and appraisal firm that works closely with private individuals, family offices, artist estates, and corporate clients to build museum-quality art collections, develop strategic deaccessioning plans, provide relevant market analysis, and conduct comprehensive appraisals. Singer is Certified in Post-War, Contemporary, and Emerging Art, which includes twentieth and twenty-first century painting, sculpture, works-on-paper, prints, photography, video, and installation art. Appraisals are prepared for insurance, damage and loss claims, estate and financial planning, estate tax, non-cash charitable donation, equitable distribution, and collateralized loans.

Prior to establishing her own firm, Singer was for many years a general partner at a private equity partnership focused on contemporary art as an alternative asset class, and, before that, she spent more than two decades in the nonprofit art world, formerly serving as a curator of contemporary art at the Whitney Museum of American Art for many years and then later, as the Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Kitchen, one of New York City’s oldest nonprofit performance and visual arts organizations. Between these two institutions, Singer curated dozens of exhibitions with contemporary artists, including co-organizing the 2002 and 2004 Whitney Biennials. Additionally, Singer has been a guest lecturer at undergraduate and graduate, art and curatorial programs at numerous universities and has authored many essays for various contemporary artists’ monographs.
