Appraiser's Statement

Caroline Ervin Robinson is a jewelry specialist, gemologist and appraiser. Growing up in rural New England, Caroline formed an early appreciation for art and antiques, while attending local auctions with her grandparents. After studying Art History at Colorado College, Caroline gained experience working for various New England auction houses. She realized that jewelry was the specialty area where she belonged after witnessing the historic auction of Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry while working in the Bid Department at Christie's in New York. Caroline then began working toward her Graduate Gemologist degree at the GIA and landed a job in the renowned Christie's Jewelry Department. Rising the ranks from a cataloguer to a Specialist and Associate Vice President at Christie's, Caroline also became an auctioneer for the company, selling everything from multi-million-dollar contemporary paintings to space memorabilia, and, of course, jewelry!

Caroline is currently an on-air guest expert for gemstones and jewelry on QVC as well as the Director of Online Platforms at Bonhams auction house. Caroline has completed jewelry appraisals throughout her career, both at auction houses and independently.

In addition to being an Accredited Member of the Appraisers Association of America, she holds a B.A. in Art History from Colorado College and a Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America and and is USPAP compliant through August 2024.

She shares her favorite jewels, from the antique to the contemporary, via her Instagram page @thecarolineervin
