Appraiser's Statement

Kevin Zweyer Anderson, AAA has been a member in good standing of the Appraisers Association of America since 1989. As a Certified Appraiser, the AAA's highest designation, he has appraised thousands of works over a career of thirty-five years in the fine art profession.

Anderson served on the National Board of Directors of the Appraisers Association from 2016 to 2021 and was Co-Chair of the Education Committee. As Co-Chair, he organized educational seminars for AAA members at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Getty Research Institute, and the Norton Simon Museum of Art. His areas of specialization are 19th Century Art, American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, Impressionist & Modern Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, Post War, Contemporary and Emerging Art. Anderson prepares appraisal reports that comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) for insurance, estate, damage/loss, and donation purposes. Anderson is recognized as a qualified appraiser for the Internal Revenue Service.

Upon receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Purchase College, New York in 1984, Anderson joined the well-known Hammer Galleries in New York City. At Hammer Galleries, Anderson was the director of the graphics division 1986 to 1988 before joining the European and American paintings department in 1989. Anderson returned to his native Los Angeles in 1994 and held director level positions with two galleries in Beverly Hills before founding Anderson Galleries in 1998. For the next 20 years, Anderson Galleries presented museum quality paintings, drawings and sculpture by leading Impressionist and Modern artists such a Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Pissarro, Picasso, and Chagall at 354 N. Bedford Drive in Beverly Hills. The gallery also had an active Contemporary artist program, featuring artists working in both traditional and modern genres. 

Anderson is a member in good standing of The Art and Antique Dealers League of America, the Confederation Internationale des Negociants en Oeuvres D’Art (CINOA), and the Association of Historians of Nineteenth Century Art. Anderson is a Research Library Reader at the Getty Museum in Brentwood, California.

Anderson now works privately and by appointment as an appraiser, dealer, and advisor. Additional services include: research, assistance with authentication, and advice on conservation and collection management.
