Appraiser's Statement

Based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Abby Flannery is an independent generalist appraiser with 20 years of experience in the field of antique fine and decorative arts. After receiving her BA with a dual major in Art History and Classics from the University of Virginia, she pursued a Masters in the History of Connoisseurship through Christie’s Education in London. Following graduation, she worked for a Sporting Art gallery and an international antiques gallery. She spent ten years at Christie’s, first in the Interiors department, and later, American Furniture, during which time she was involved with numerous noted collections, including Mrs. Sidney F. Brody, The Billy Wilder Collection, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Estate of Eric Martin Wunsch, the Credit Suisse Collection, and the Collection of Kristina Barbara Johnson. Since 2016 she has worked for an American Folk Art gallery with over 40 years experience.     

Drawing upon this broad background, she is capable of producing appraisals for tax liability and equitable distribution, Insurance and Non-Cash Charitable Donations for the collector, all produced confidentially and with the highest levels of professional standards. She is USPAP compliant through June 2025. She is also able to assist in an advisory capacity concerning collection management and estate liquidation. She is available for local travel to New York City, Philadelphia, and much of New Jersey.
