Appraiser's Statement
Sydelle Rubin-Dienstfrey holds a PhD in Art History from Boston University and a BA from Harvard University. Her experience in the art world spans three decades. Sydelle has conducted curatorial research for museums such as the Denver Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Addison Gallery of American Art. As a respected scholar, she has contributed to numerous publications, most recently to "The Multicultural Modernism of Winold Reiss" (Deutscher Kunstverlag, 2022) and “Miguel Covarrubias. A look without boundaries” (Palacio de Cultura Citibanamex in Mexico City, to be published March 2025). Sydelle has also taught classes in American Art, Art of the African Diaspora, History of World Art: Ancient Art, and History of World Art: Renaissance to Contemporary as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder and an Instructor at Boston University. In addition, she has more than 10 years of auction house experience. As the principal at Iris Art Appraisals LLC, Sydelle draws from these experiences to offer meticulously researched, objective, and confidential fine art appraisals and art advisory services.
